متن کاملTransport of Microorganisms through Soil
Microorganisms migrating into and through soil from sources on the land surface may cause a serious threat to both ground and surface waters. It has been estimated that microorganisms can migrate significant distances in the field. Results from various studies suggested that preferential flow through macropores, worm holes, cracks, and fractures is the main reason for such observations. However...
متن کاملEthylene production by soil microorganisms.
Ethylene-producing strains of Penicillium cyclopium and P. crustosum were isolated from soil. These isolates produced ethylene on a variety of carbon growth substrates including phenolic acids. The quantities of ethylene produced on the various substrates varied, and the subtrate-ethylene prosuction pattern for P. cyclopium strains differed significantly from that of P. crustosum strains.
متن کاملEffects of soil treatments on the survival of soil microorganisms.
In biological control studies of plant-parasitic nematodes in field soil improved methods are needed for reducing or eliminating specific soil inhabiting microorganisms. Microwave heating of soil decreases soilborne fungi and bacteria, but not Pasteuria spp. Bacterial and fungal colony forming units were reduced to nondetectable levels in microwaved heated field soft (650 watts) at 5.2% moistur...
متن کاملEnhanced degradation of isofenphos by soil microorganisms
Laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate the enhanced degradation of isofenphos [ 1methylethyl 24 [ethoxy[ (1-methylethyl)amino]phosphinothioyl]oxy] benzoate] in soil and to elucidate the microbiology of this phenomenon. [U-ring-'4CIIsofenphos was most rapidly degraded in Iowa cornfield soils that had a history of isofenphos insecticide use. Between 13 and 42% of an applied dose of ...
